We arrived safely yesterday evening at about 10:00pm to our condo here in Crete. For you, the time would have been 3:00pm on Thursday. Carol and I woke up at 3:30 on Wednesday morning, thinking about the trip. And I decided at 4:15 to get up. So with a few cat naps here and there on the plane, we finally slept a whole night about 36 hours later. Carol and I walked to the beach this morning. It was very stony. The water is very cold, which reminds me of Cape Cod water at this time of year. So I did not jump in..... yet!
We drove from our town of Rethemno to Heraklion for the ancient city/palace of Knossos, but decided to wait until Sunday to go in when it is free. Also, we would have had only 1 hour to spend there before closing time, after having purchased tickets.
Despite the language barrier (I only know thank-you and goodmorning), people are very helpful. I plan to at least double my vocabulary. Haha!
